It feels amazing to collaborate with a group of artists and create a space where people feel safe to share their most personal stories. For the past 3 weeks, we’ve been working on Kissa Kahani, a digital storytelling project by Ci3 at The University of Chicago. We’re using the art of storytelling (story circles) to understand the lifestyle of the youth in Lucknow, through the lens of gender studies. The reason we could connect with this project deeply is rooted in its philosophical foundation of power sharing. Theories and practices of popular education, shared anthropology and community media are being implemented. With minimal guidance, the adolescents are now working on producing their own digital stories. It seemed like a mammoth task to be accomplished in 4 weeks but with so much love and hard-work, we’re close to the finish line now.
